Getting Information

"If I don't have the information I want, I will not buy your items. Period. I don't have time to be chasing around the information. I am often looking from my cell phone when I am at work and don't have all day. Why can't you just tell me what I need to know?"

After receiving this email last week, I decided to share it with you all. I know, it sounds like he was having a bad day to me too but his point was sound. He is in a hurry and wanted to make a purchase. He didn't have the information that he needed and so decided to not complete the purchase. SALE LOST.

Although we can't look into a crystal ball to see what each customers question will be, we can provide the most complete information possible to begin with. Below is a list of information that customers want to know prior to making a purchase.

What's on the menu?
How much would I typically spend for this restaurant?
Can I use it at all locations?
Is this the restaurant I heard about on TV?
Is this a reputable business?
What is the catch?
Do other people purchase from this business?
What are the dimensions?
Is there a warranty?
Is delivery/ installation included? To how far away?
What is the size/ color/ model/ condition?
Is this item a floor model?

As you are listing your item, try explaining it to a co-worker or your spouse in your head first. Are there any available details that should be included to assure the customer has all of the information they need? If so, include it!

If the customer doesn't get the information needed to complete the sale, he won't be a customer at all.
